La Raza Group – Che Argentina!

In October of 2006, La Raza was invited to participate in an exciting public art project/exchange in Argentina. Working alongside mural artists from Argentina, as well with artists from other parts of South America, Canadians Gerald and Deborah Pedros, Alberto Cerritos, Esther Rausenberg, Sylvia Curtis-Norcross and Richard Tetrault painted murals, collaborated, documented, improvised and presented their work.

Growing out of contacts made at the International Mural Symposium in Tlaxcala, Mexico the previous year, this tour adds to the group’s international experience in working in public locations. A reciprocal part of this exchange is scheduled for Canada in the coming year

This 3-week tour was made possible with the tremendous support of The Regional Movement of Muralists of Argentina, coordinated by Juan Bauk. As well, support was received from various regional governments, Universities, Cultural Centres and individuals in the participating cities: Berazategui, Tucuman and Catamarca. They provided central public venues, panels and materials, hosting the visiting artists in all stages of the project.
